Important Notice

txtnote is not a password manager. Please do not store passwords or any sensitive data. All content is saved unencrypted in your browser's localStorage and can be cleared at any time.

Data Storage

All your text snippets and data are stored locally in your browser's localStorage. We also store minimal app preferences locally (theme, backup reminder settings, first use date). Nothing is transmitted to external servers or stored on our systems.

Local Data We Store

In your browser's localStorage, we save:

Your snippets - All text content and tags you create
Theme preference - Light or dark mode setting
Backup reminder data - When you first used the app, last reminder shown, and if you disabled reminders (to provide helpful backup suggestions)

No External Tracking

We do not use any analytics, tracking scripts, or cookies to monitor your activity. Your usage patterns remain completely private. The backup reminder system works entirely offline using only local browser data.

Data Export & Control

You can export all your data at any time using the Export JSON feature. This gives you full control and ownership of your content. You can also clear all data instantly with our Clear All feature.

Local Processing

All text processing, tag detection, snippet management, and backup reminders happen locally in your browser. No data leaves your device unless you explicitly export it.

Browser Storage

We use localStorage to save your snippets and app preferences locally. You can clear this data at any time through your browser settings or by using our Clear All feature.

Service Worker

We use a service worker for offline functionality and caching. This improves performance but doesn't transmit any personal data.

Cookies

txtnote does not use cookies at all. No session cookies, no tracking cookies, no marketing cookies. Everything works locally, without external dependencies.

About This Project

Hey! 👋 I originally built txtnote to make my own work a bit easier – a simple tool to organize and copy text snippets quickly. Now I'm making it available for others too. It's just a personal side project, not a polished product from a big company. If something's off or you have ideas, feel free to reach out – I'm improving it in my spare time. 🙂
